Solved the issue by inserting a boot CD in the host and configuring the VM to boot from the physical CD/DVD drive. The VM was now waiting for keyboard confirmation, so I simply by-passed the CD boot and selected to boot from the hard drive.
I have Inspiron 1501 with XP/Vista dual boot system. Vista is the default operating system. In the dual boot menu I am getting F8 option for Vista only. When I am selecting XP there is no such option available. Can anybody help me how can I start XP in different starting modes i.e. safe mode, normal mode, best known confiuration etc. When the screen displays the text Starting Windows, for Troubleshooting and Advanced Startup Options for Windows 2000, press F8, press the F8 key on the keyboard.
